Interview with ADEBESIN OLUGBENGA(Masscomm ND 1

Via Whatsapp
Masscomm Correspondent: Your name in full sir
D'Best: Damilola Best Emmanuel Oladimeji
MC: Whr is ur source in sch, I mean ur dept
D'Best: Mass communication department
MC: Is mapoly running Single, Two or Multi Party System
D'Best: Mapoly does not run any party system, Party system
is applicable only to politics, but in unionism especially in
Mapoly the polytechnic authority does not make provision
for such.
MC: Bt there ar some who call themselves advocate and
another like that too
D'Best: I can only tell of registered clubs or association
which aims and objective are well spelt out and has the
authority and back up of the school management
MC: Do u belong to any of them?
D'Best: No
MC: So u ar not in any group in MAPOLY
D'Best: Yes
MC: What ar ur manifestos?
D'Best: My manifesto can be simply encapsulated in the
theme of my campaign, which I term as "Remedy to
Malady".
The above theme preaches that I come with a agenda to
reposition, restructure, revive the sleeping functions of
Students' union executive, bring great and right ideologies
and maintain good ones.
All this I term Remedy
MC: When was or will be d Primary Election
D'Best: I know of no primary election, am aware there will be
screening of candidate when the SUELECO is put in place.
MC: What ar ur reputations, I mean what do u think ppl say
abt u
D'Best: What people think or say about me depends on
individuals perception of who I am, but as for me, I am not
perfect but working towards it, because when we aim for
perfection we get excellence. But so far so good, I know
have been good with human relations and has helped me a
lot with others and communicates good about my
reputation.
Though am human and no one is perfect
MC: Sir, Hw have u fought for the Students years ago, As in
stand up to rep the students in difficulties, year(s) ago
D'Best: Yes
MC: Shed more light on that Sir
D'Best: I have been a freedom fighter since I got to know
myself, participated in different struggle that has given
remedies to plethora of maladies.
A case of bring down our school fee protest by NANS in 2013
while serving as the NANS Director of Publicity Ogun/JCC.
A leader of the struggle to break the dichotomy between
HND/B.sc in accordance to NAPS National directive.
A right and accurate source of information to the entire
students of MAPOLY, ever since I got admission in the
reflect that information is power. To mention but a few
MC: Wot can u say abt the title "Aluta Continua" or defend it
D'Best: Got a lot to defend this but in a short but meaty
answer the word "ALUTA" in the real sense classically means
"STRUGGLE"; the word is widely associated with a
STRUGGLE for Freedom or LIBERATION of people from any
form of Oppression, Repression or Subjugation.
The full phrase of the shortened word ALUTA is "ALUTA
Continua, Victoria Ascerta", meaning "The Struggle
Continues, Victory is Certain"; which is fashioned after the
Portuguese saying: "A luta continua, Vitoria e certa"- The
Struggle Continues, Victory is Certain!
The word was first used by Samora Michael, the Leader of
the FRELIMO Movement during the Mozambican war for
Independence. Samora Michael used the phrase often to
cultivate popular support against the Portuguese Colonial
presence. 'ALUTA Continua' became a general word used by
the Nigerian Students, more so, by the Students
Revolutionaries, Comrades and Activists. ALUTA Spirit which
is the Spirit to fight for ones rights by engaging in peaceful/
nonviolent demonstration of an ungodly act by any form of
Government became a Spirit inbuilt to Nigerian Students
with the belief of "Injury to one is injury to all".
MC: What have u learn from the past governments
D'Best: I have learnt quite a number of lessons, but the
most valuable one to me is to watch my promises as an
aspirant, define my goals, make it known and stand on it.
Many Union government in the past have not failed but have
been perceived to be failure because of too much of
promises they made before their emergence forgetting they
have a limited time to achieve the whole world . That has
brought me to a conclusion that makes me tell people " I
love to under-promise and over-deliver, coz too much words
and less action is an assassin of great ideologies"
MC: What are the proofs that makes us believe u can
represent the interest of thousands of students
D'Best: Leaders are not born, leaders are made, gone are
those old good days, I have subjected myself to good
leadership training and have acquitted a lot to myself some
of which are
-Good knowledge of creativity
- Good Listening Ability
- Team Leadership
- Perseverance and Tolerance from others
- Integrity
- Great knowledge for lawful and legal agitation amongst
others.
And this ability has not only been acquired but tested at
different levels and different capacities of offices at
academic, social and religious associations .
MC: What's ur relationship wit ur fellow aspirants
D'Best: I love them all, and when you love people you will be
at peace with them. They always are sources of inspiration
to me
MC: How many lecturers can stand for you? I mean hw many
of the lecturers can guarantee u for us
D'Best: Copious of my lecturers I have good relationship
with. But issue of guarantee depends on individual, I cannot
speak for them, I only read the lips only the heart tells the
truth.
MC: Wen do u think d election will hold nw
D'Best: Favourably the election should hold September
MC: What massg do u wanna leave 4 d students
D'Best: If you think you can, yes you can. There is no limit to
what you can achieve.
MC: Thank U very much sir
